Things that make me smile…

Well, I’m here again, yay for me!  I am not doing so well on journaling and blogging, but I think about it often so that kind of counts…right?  Today I will randomly blog about what’s been happening in our world.

Lydia went to the doctor on 1-14-08, she got 3 shots-no fun- everything else checked out great.  The doctor said she was advanced in talking…she can hum the tunes of many songs…such as 3 Blind Mice, which she did for the doctor.  He was impressed.  I always knew I had a Wonder Baby!  :-)     I contribute that to the constant singing in our house.  Her Daddy plays many instruments…he mostly plays the guitar for her, they have music time almost everyday.  He has learned many kid songs as well as others…you should see us doing the Hokey Pokey!!!  hehe.  She likes the rock and roll of course!  So fun!  The doctor said to wean her from the bottle at any time now.  I find that difficult, it’s like the end of babyhood.  She still has a morning bottle and a night time bottle.  She finished her last can of formula the other day and we started with whole milk.  That’s my first step to letting it go.  I plan to have her off the bottle by 15 months…and the pacifier by 18 months.  She only uses the pac when she is having teething pain and at night to go to bed, so hopefully that won’t be too hard to let go.  Ugh!  I love to see her growing up but it’s sad letting all the baby stuff go.

We bought a wonderful new dishwasher over the weekend.  Our old one was so noisy that I found Lydia dancing to it one day.  The ball barings were worn out and it made an awful grinding sound.  We splurged and got a Bosch…you would never know it is running…it is just beautiful! Funny how an appliance can make me smile…

Today I decided to work from home.  Didn’t get much work done…but I am in the mood to cook.   I am currently baking a loaf of banana bread…mmm, and I am making chicken and dumplings for dinner.  I make the dumplings from scratch…they are oh so yummy and my grandmother’s recipe.  While I was preparing the banana bread I turned around to see what Lydia was doing because I heard a lip smacking sound…she was standing in front of the fish tanks making fishy lips!  I had to laugh out loud!  I didn’t show her that…it’s so funny what babies learn to do by taking in  their environments.  What a girl!

I’m so bad…

I really committed, or tried to commit, to doing this on a routine basis…also my written journaling. I started writing in the new journal on New Years Day, as planned. That’s it. I don’t know why I do it? I am obsessed with having a clean and tidy house for one. When Lydia goes to bed I start cleaning like a mad woman. I don’t sit down until about 10 pm. Ridiculous!!!! Then I get online and look at myspace…wasting time, ebay…fun…email, and the news of the day…depressing. I plan to get a “chore board” and plan out my cleaning schedule so I don’t have to do it nightly. I just feel like I have to. I hate that! So here I am again. I get really confused on this blog…I don’t exactly know how to navigate??? I’m learning. I really want to include photos and more “bringing up baby” info. She is my baby cakes! I always planned to start soon after she was born and journal our adventures. Oh well, it’s never too late to start!

day 2…I’m here again

Today was much more hectic than yesterday…I am supposed to be off from work for the holidays, but the last week of work prior to Christmas was a bad week. My father-in-law had a light stroke and was in the hospital for 2 days…and my Mom had surgery for colon cancer. So I didn’t get all of my visits in and thus had to finish up today. I was up earlier than usual…before my little alarm clock even! I showered and dressed and then the girl woke up…and then the dogs (we are back down to our normal 3 dogs…yay). It was letting out dogs and fixing a bottle time. I greeted Lydia with the good morning song and I in return was greeted with an enormous smile and bright eyes…love it!!! Diaper changing…clothes changing (the diaper leaked…it was extremely full of pee pee and it is a pampers brand so it is just a lot of pee pee), and off to have the bottle and a little Sesame Street.

I fixed a little breakfast after the bottle and prepared to leave. Da Da took over and off I went. I finished up in time to get back so the dad could get ready for work…bummer. We don’t get to spend much time together but it is what we must do for now.

I quit on trying to journal my day…I never stop…I’m always busy.

Why?

Haven’t I been back here since i signed up? Busy, Busy, Busy…that is my excuse for everything these days. Am I really so busy? I’ve decided to journal my day to see exactly why I consider myself to be soooo busy…so this is a good place to begin…

8:30-9 am My little alarm clock goes off…happy baby singing in her room… :) great to wake up to even when I stay up too late and just want to sleep in. It’s up and at ‘em. This weekend we happen to be dog sitting for my bro-in-laws 2 beagles, so I have to let out 5 dogs…1 out the front door and 4 out the back…fix a morning bottle/coffee (she has an AM and PM bottle) then go greet baby with the “good morning to you” song, change the diaper and then we go to the living room to have the bottle and watch Curious George, play. etc….and I let the dogs in…feed and water.

9-10 am more playing…then I go to the kitchen to make oatmeal and toast. Invite Lydia to the table and feed her.

10:30 She is ready for a nap…yay…me too! I decided that today will be pajama day. we slept until 12:30…yay!!!!

12:30-1 pm Lydia’s lunch…and mine too

after lunch, I showered and then we played and played and I made a grocery list…well, Da Da was going to go to the store for us but he had to go to work to straighten out a mess someone else had made.  We did nothing other than play and when Da Da got back we had “band practice” with Da Da on guitar and harmonica (he is very good), Lydia on maracas and Mom on a homemade drum set consisting of an upside down bucket, a tambourine and other solid objects to bang upon.  This went on until bed time at 8:30 pm.  I love spending my time with my little family.  And this day being a Sunday, we had no other obligations and chose to have pajama day!
