Things that make me smile…

Well, I’m here again, yay for me!  I am not doing so well on journaling and blogging, but I think about it often so that kind of counts…right?  Today I will randomly blog about what’s been happening in our world.

Lydia went to the doctor on 1-14-08, she got 3 shots-no fun- everything else checked out great.  The doctor said she was advanced in talking…she can hum the tunes of many songs…such as 3 Blind Mice, which she did for the doctor.  He was impressed.  I always knew I had a Wonder Baby!  :-)     I contribute that to the constant singing in our house.  Her Daddy plays many instruments…he mostly plays the guitar for her, they have music time almost everyday.  He has learned many kid songs as well as others…you should see us doing the Hokey Pokey!!!  hehe.  She likes the rock and roll of course!  So fun!  The doctor said to wean her from the bottle at any time now.  I find that difficult, it’s like the end of babyhood.  She still has a morning bottle and a night time bottle.  She finished her last can of formula the other day and we started with whole milk.  That’s my first step to letting it go.  I plan to have her off the bottle by 15 months…and the pacifier by 18 months.  She only uses the pac when she is having teething pain and at night to go to bed, so hopefully that won’t be too hard to let go.  Ugh!  I love to see her growing up but it’s sad letting all the baby stuff go.

We bought a wonderful new dishwasher over the weekend.  Our old one was so noisy that I found Lydia dancing to it one day.  The ball barings were worn out and it made an awful grinding sound.  We splurged and got a Bosch…you would never know it is running…it is just beautiful! Funny how an appliance can make me smile…

Today I decided to work from home.  Didn’t get much work done…but I am in the mood to cook.   I am currently baking a loaf of banana bread…mmm, and I am making chicken and dumplings for dinner.  I make the dumplings from scratch…they are oh so yummy and my grandmother’s recipe.  While I was preparing the banana bread I turned around to see what Lydia was doing because I heard a lip smacking sound…she was standing in front of the fish tanks making fishy lips!  I had to laugh out loud!  I didn’t show her that…it’s so funny what babies learn to do by taking in  their environments.  What a girl!

  1. Aww….go Lydia!!!! Aidan is smart as well. He is repeating a lot of things we do and he talks to us a lot. He actually said, “Whoa” when he fell on his bottom yesterday.

He just likes to dance to the music…no humming yet.

mmmmm….can i come eat at your house tonight?!

I bought a new stove last week and LOVE it!! I want one of those dishwashers that is the dish drawer (you know the commercial where the husband is watching his wife take the dishes from the washer to the drawer and he keeps repeating dish…drawer.) Notice that her butt is in there a big part, too. Hmm, what a way to sell those puppies!!

Lydia loves to dance too! She loves the opening music for Curious George and shakes her little butt to it! She dances to her Daddy’s guitar playing and does this little head banging thing…I’m trying to capture it on video. After cooking so much, I wasn’t hungry! I just ate a piece of banana bread but the dumplings look yummy and I will most likely indulge before going to bed.

    …tell her hello!
