another day

I took Lydi-bug to the doctor on Tuesday. It was time for another vaccination. I know that there is great controversy over forced vaccination and such but I put my faith in keeping my daughter healthy and safe. I’ve done my research. That is all I have to say about that.

The doctor was impressed to say the least.  My child is a wonder baby…always has been and always will be.  *smile* The doc said that she is developmentally advanced.  He told me that I should go ahead and get a potty to introduce her to it because he thinks that she will take right up with using the potty.  Oh my Baby is growing up!!!  She did well with the appointment.  He said that most kids her age are screaming and crying during the exam.  She chose to steal his pens from his pocket as he checked her ears…Everything checked out great…no problems.  She sang/hummed all of her favorite songs to the doctor and interacted with him well.  Her only objection was having to lie down, as she prefers to be up and at ‘em.   She weighs 23 lbs 4 oz and is 32″ tall.  She has gained 2 lbs and grown 2 inches since her 12 month visit.

While waiting for the appointment, she got to see 2 little babies, one was 4 month and he was so alert and excited to see her, the other was born on Saturday and in his little carrier.  She wanted to rock the baby.  She has a hard time understanding that she can’t do everything she wants to do.  Discipline is a very, very hard thing.  The toughest thing I have dealt with yet in being a parent.  We are taking the positive and consistent approach.  She is in the “terrible 2’s” phase (at 16 months).  She has a tendency to freak out when she has to stop doing something that she shouldn’t do and redirecting doesn’t work as well as it did a couple of months ago…she especially hates to come in the house after playing outside.  She loves outside!  We all do

Today

I think that I will bake some homemade bread.  I found a nice recipe on a blog some place, don’t remember where.  I am planning my menu for the week and will to go to the grocery store later on.  The husband is obsessed with growing nice thick beautiful green grass and is checking his efforts now.  The Baby Cakes is supposed to be napping but instead is singing and talking and playing in her crib.  Mommy needs a time out…

I think I will revamp this blog.  I just don’t know what to do yet.

We bought these wonderful pantries from Lowes, for extra storage, but mostly to protect Baby Cakes.  We have this open stairwell with a banister in the kitchen and decided that some sort of wall was needed there to keep her from climbing over.  The pantries are the solution and I love having the storage.  I am in the process of planning to paint my ugly brown cabinets to a fresh clean white…just dreading it.  I am replacing the hardware too, which mean drilling new holes, which is not an easy job…one that I am especially not fond of.

the end of my ramblings…

day 2…I’m here again

Today was much more hectic than yesterday…I am supposed to be off from work for the holidays, but the last week of work prior to Christmas was a bad week. My father-in-law had a light stroke and was in the hospital for 2 days…and my Mom had surgery for colon cancer. So I didn’t get all of my visits in and thus had to finish up today. I was up earlier than usual…before my little alarm clock even! I showered and dressed and then the girl woke up…and then the dogs (we are back down to our normal 3 dogs…yay). It was letting out dogs and fixing a bottle time. I greeted Lydia with the good morning song and I in return was greeted with an enormous smile and bright eyes…love it!!! Diaper changing…clothes changing (the diaper leaked…it was extremely full of pee pee and it is a pampers brand so it is just a lot of pee pee), and off to have the bottle and a little Sesame Street.

I fixed a little breakfast after the bottle and prepared to leave. Da Da took over and off I went. I finished up in time to get back so the dad could get ready for work…bummer. We don’t get to spend much time together but it is what we must do for now.

I quit on trying to journal my day…I never stop…I’m always busy.

Why?

Haven’t I been back here since i signed up? Busy, Busy, Busy…that is my excuse for everything these days. Am I really so busy? I’ve decided to journal my day to see exactly why I consider myself to be soooo busy…so this is a good place to begin…

8:30-9 am My little alarm clock goes off…happy baby singing in her room… :) great to wake up to even when I stay up too late and just want to sleep in. It’s up and at ‘em. This weekend we happen to be dog sitting for my bro-in-laws 2 beagles, so I have to let out 5 dogs…1 out the front door and 4 out the back…fix a morning bottle/coffee (she has an AM and PM bottle) then go greet baby with the “good morning to you” song, change the diaper and then we go to the living room to have the bottle and watch Curious George, play. etc….and I let the dogs in…feed and water.

9-10 am more playing…then I go to the kitchen to make oatmeal and toast. Invite Lydia to the table and feed her.

10:30 She is ready for a nap…yay…me too! I decided that today will be pajama day. we slept until 12:30…yay!!!!

12:30-1 pm Lydia’s lunch…and mine too

after lunch, I showered and then we played and played and I made a grocery list…well, Da Da was going to go to the store for us but he had to go to work to straighten out a mess someone else had made.  We did nothing other than play and when Da Da got back we had “band practice” with Da Da on guitar and harmonica (he is very good), Lydia on maracas and Mom on a homemade drum set consisting of an upside down bucket, a tambourine and other solid objects to bang upon.  This went on until bed time at 8:30 pm.  I love spending my time with my little family.  And this day being a Sunday, we had no other obligations and chose to have pajama day!
